Omicron variant of COVID-19 confirmed in Halton and Durham regions cases at ICES
A Halton family with two confirmed cases of COVID-19 has been informed that their older brother and sister were also confirmed by the Ontario Public Health Laboratory on Friday evening.
As of Friday, June 28, an additional three cases have been notified in the Halton Region with one likely to be a local incident, one was confirmed by the laboratory and the second is still under active investigation. A second case of local transmission has been reported in the Durham Region, and a third case in the Niagara Region.
The cases were confirmed by the Ontario Public Health Laboratory and the Ministry of Health.
The Halton family will also be notified of the positive test for their family.
As of Monday, June 30, the number of confirmed cases continues to grow in Halton Region.
Halton Region has two confirmed cases (including one local)
Niagara Region has one confirmed case (including one local)
Durham Region has one confirmed case (including one local)
New Jersey has no confirmed cases reported in its five counties.
The OPP are continuing to investigate and assist with the investigation. The OPP has not received any reports of injuries or deaths from responding officers in the region since the outbreak began.
As of Friday, June 28, the number of confirmed cases has grown to 33 — 15 Halton, 8 Niagara and 8 Durham.
As of Monday, June 30, the numbers grew to 36 — 18 Halton, 7 Niagara and 7 Durham.
The Halton Region continues to experience an exponential increase in COVID-19 cases and has asked for assistance from the public.
